Current Needs -August/September 2010

Please call Kari at (763) 559-9008 before bringing items. She will know what our most current needs are and what we have space for. We don't have a lot of storage space and want to be prepared.

Ideas for groups - Drives for specific items such as baby items, diapers, hair care, socks and underwear, old cell phones etc. are always good. Put together housekeeping starter kits for women when they move into new households (see ideas for contents at end of list). We also have groups that adopt rooms, redecorating an area of the shelter, or spruce up the yard. Call Kari for more information.

General Needs - most needed items are in bold in each category. Our most needed items right now are, full size deodorant, full size lotion, towels, liquid dish soap and used cell phones.

We currently are not accepting, used women's clothing, stuffed animals, used toys, car seats, blankets, travel size toiletries, or furniture.

Used cell phones- With or without accessories. Our cell phone fundraiser program is sponsored by Shelter Alliance, a program of cell phone recycling company GRC Wireless Recycling . Through Shelter Alliance, nonprofit organizations raise funds through the collection & recycling of used cell phones, and businesses & consumers donate & recycle cell phones to benefit nonprofit participants.

Cleaning supplies - Vacuums, dust busters, mops, brooms, dustpans, sponges, rubber gloves, glass cleaner, Pine cleaner, oil soap, toilet bowl cleaner, dish soap, furniture polish, disinfecting wipes, small cleaning buckets, laundry detergent(liquid).

Medicine Cabinet - Ace bandages, antibiotic ointment, cough drops, cold medicines, pain relievers, children's cold and cough medicine, children s pain relievers, teething gel , thermometers, Vaseline, lip balm, ice packs, heating pads.

Personal Care Items (full size only please) - Deodorant, full size bar soap, maxi pads, full size shampoo, full size conditioner, full size lotion, full size toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, hairbrushes. Hair products for women of color: hair grease, conditioner, and gel.

Clothing - NEW - All sizes from infants to woman's - Socks, underwear(especially woman's size 5-7), bras, nightgowns, slippers, T-shirts, sweatpants, sweatshirts, tennis shoes, new children's shoes.

Clothing - USED - WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING USED CLOTHING AT THIS TIME,except pants for children sizes 2 and up for girls and boys, pants/jeans for women sizes 8- 14.

Infants and Children - Disposable diapers (sizes 4-6), wet wipes, new 8oz bottles, new pacifiers, baby and children's shampoo, baby monitors, children's shampoo, formula(Similac), new spill proof sippy cups, baby lotion, baby bath, baby food(fruits and vegetables), children's medications, infant orajel, medication droppers/cups/spoons, girls hair ties, barrettes, kids toothpaste, juice boxes(100%), healthy snacks(individually packaged).

Miscellaneous - Legal pads, small tool box, pens, bath towels, new bed pillows, twin size sheets, washcloths, shower curtains, electric alarm clocks, irons, bus tokens, bus cards, gift items that can be used for bingo prizes.

Gift cards - Target, K-Mart, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Cub, Rainbow, Super America, Office Max, Office Depot, Toys R Us, movie theaters, bowling alleys, Minnesota Zoo, Children's Museum, Sally Beauty Supply.

Housekeeping Starter Kits - Laundry basket, cleaning rags, rubber gloves, dustpans, wastebasket, paper towels, toilet tissue, mop, broom, toilet brush, dishtowels, facial tissue. Cleaning products such as: furniture polish, toilet bowl cleaner, glass cleaner, Murphys oil soap, laundry detergent.
